- A New Beginning
Noah has been in the ark for over a year. Eight people and a mating pair of each of the animals that God had gathered into the ark have been saved to re-populate the earth. Noah built an alter to the Lord and offered burnt offerings on it . This offering greatly pleased the Lord and He is about to bless Noah and his sons and establish a covenant with them by setting His bow (rainbow) in the clouds. This bow is the sign that God established between all mankind and Himself that the earth would never again be covered by a flood “…to destroy all flesh.” (Genesis 9:11-17)

If you would like to just focus on the rainbow you can do something fun with older kids. You will need tissue paper in the colors of the rainbow cut in postage stamp-sized pieces. Have these cut ahead of time and placed in baggies for the kids to share. You will need a lot so plan on having more than one set of colors. Each participant will need glue or paste for dipping the “rosettes” and a brush or pencil for dipping into the glue . The glue needs to be in shallow containers so the kids can dip the tissue with ease. I used paper cups and just cut them to about an inch high. Picture instructions are below.
Another alternative is to focus on the dove that Noah sent out over a period of several weeks. Instructions for a mosaic dove are found in the May 21, 2012 blog, “Gods Holy Convocations – part one.

Feel free to cut the bottom portion off as they will tend to be top-heavy, and choose an appropriate memory verse for the kids to copy. You should also have one started so you can demonstrate the technique. You will take a rectangle of red tissue and fold it over the end of your paintbrush. Don’t use anything pointy as it will poke through the tissue paper.( see photo below: a.) You can use a pencil but the “rosette” will not be as frilly. Now fold over and twist the paper. Hold with your finger and dip in the glue.(b)

Position the “rosettes” close to each other and continue with the other colors. (below) “Shave” with scissors!
